Dalton Lake Canyon Near Piedmont, South Dakota

Dalton Lake has a small campground with a self-service fee system, and a rough trail leads southeast from the lake through the canyon itself. At the east end, the trail comes out onto a gravel road which eventually joins up with the frontage road along Interstate 90. To the west, a gravel road joins the campground to Vanocker Canyon.

The creek flows alongside the gravel road to the campground.

Not a large lake, but a quiet and calm one.
